REGISTRATION STARTS THIS WEEK!!!

Just a friendly reminder that registration starts this week on Thursday, August 1, 2024.  Make sure you have all of your documents ready for your student’s day.  Please be aware that we understand printing may be an issue for some of our families, so three documents:  Title I Form, Home School Compact and Emergency Card were mailed out to parents.  Click on this link for more information:  HMSreg2024.

GALILEO CAMP IN FULL SWING (JULY 22 TO AUGUST 2)

Now that Summer School has ended, the Galileo Camp is in full swing.  If you registered your student for this camp, please make sure your child attends.  Those who do not attend may lose their spot to another student on the waitlist.

READING WHILE ON SUMMER VACATION

One of our focus areas for the 2024-25 school year is to improve student literacy.  Students with good reading skills are very important for doing well in middle school and beyond. They help students understand their schoolwork, communicate better, and think critically.  As a parent, you can help your child by doing the following over the summer break:

  • Encouraging daily reading and setting a regular reading time.
  • Going to the local library to find different books and genres together.
  • Talking with their child about what they read to improve their understanding and thinking skills.
  • They may also go to Let’s Go Learn and complete reading activities on their chromebook.

If you have any ideas on how we can improve student literacy on our campus, please contact us during office hours to have a conversation with one of our staff members.  We appreciate your input.

FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL

Just a reminder that the first day of school is Wednesday, August 14, 2024.  The passing period to your student’s Period One class is 8:25am, and it starts at 8:30am. In that class, they will receive their class schedule.  Also, on that day students are dismissed at 12:30pm.  Please make sure you plan accordingly.  Finally, to ensure your student gets off to a good start, make sure they do the following:

  • Get a good night’s rest the night before.
  • Ensure they arrive on time and in our DRESS CODE.
  • Charge their chromebook
  • When they arrive on campus, relax.  Staff will be available to assist them.
