Dress Code

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

  • Uniforms must be worn all day long, as long as a student is on Hosler campus (no changing at school)
  • Students who do not abide by the dress code must change into “loaner” clothes and will receive detention, disciplinary action, and/or suspension. Loaner clothes must be returned to Hosler Middle School.
  • Students who bring inappropriate outerwear and/or accessories will have items confiscated until retrieved by a parent/legal guardian.
  • Uniform donations: We gladly accept used and new uniforms for students who have difficulty obtaining uniforms.

 

SHIRTS
Required:

  • Solid white or light blue, collared, logo-free (or Hosler logo)
  • Shirts must no shorter than three (3) inches below the natural waist
  • Shirts must conceal undergarments
  • Must fit properly and shall not be oversized
  • Every Friday, students may wear Hosler attire and/or college/university shirts that meet Dress Code regulations

Not Allowed:

  • Tops/shirts with suggestive expressions, pictures, actions, profanity, obscenity, drugs, alcohol, gangs/crew, anything degrading an individual or group
  • PE clothes are to be used for PE classes only
  • Tank tops or jerseys
  • Tube tops and halter tops
  • Bare midriff tops & Off the shoulder tops

 

BOTTOMS
Required:

  • Solid navy blue pants, shorts, skirts, skorts, and shorts must be mid-tight length (no shorter than four inches from the above the knee)
  • Must fit at waist
  • Must be no more than one size too large
  • Must be of cotton fabric (not of basketball, nylon, or mesh shorts)
  • No tights, stretch pants or leggings

Not Allowed:

  • Torn or radically altered bottoms
  • Tight, form fitting pants or shorts
  • Sweat pants, pajama bottoms or jeans
  • Bottoms with suggestive expressions, pictures, actions, profanity, obscenity, drugs, alcohol, gangs/crew, anything degrading an individual or group
  • Sagging

 

SWEATSHIRTS AND OTHER OUTERWEAR 
 Required:

  • Pull-over or zip up sweatshirts, cardigan sweaters, vests, windbreakers must logo-free
  • Heavy winter coats or raincoats must be worn OVER an appropriate sweatshirt only outside during cold/rainy weather and may be any color

Not Allowed:

  • Plaid, striped, colored, or oversized shirts, sweatshirts, sweaters
  • Denim jackets of any color
  • Hoods (May be worn outside the buildings only)
  • Heavy winter coats/raincoats (May be worn outside the classrooms only)

 

ACCESSORIES 
 Acceptable:

  • Earrings shall be small and worn in ears only
  • Belts, if worn, can be any solid color with plain logo free
  • Socks/tights must be solid colored and logo free
  • Shoes must be closed-toe and cover entire foot and heels are not to exceed 2 inches
  • Gloves outside only on cold days

Not Allowed:

  • No body piercing (lips, longue, eyebrows, belly etc.)
  • No large hoops and no spike earrings
  • Initial buckles, logo belts or buckles, belt tails longer than 4 inches from belt loop, chains from loop/pockets or spiked belts
  • Sandals, mules, house slippers, etc.
  • Hats, do-rags, bandanas, sweatbands and athletic headbands
  • Large chains or medallions worn outside of shirt
