More than 700 Lynwood community members came together in a powerful show of unity and support at the fourth annual Lynwood Run 5K/10K on May 10, raising more than $69,000 to benefit Lynwood Unified students while celebrating wellness, education and Lynwood pride.
Hosted by the Lynwood Partners Educational Foundation (LPEF) – in collaboration with the District, City of Lynwood and Aztlan Athletics – the event transformed Lynwood City Hall into a vibrant hub of activity.
Participants and supporters – from students and families to alumni and staff – enjoyed outdoor games, wellness booths, community resource tables, caricatures and cold plunges. Hydration stations, healthy snacks, post-run festivities and medals awaited runners at the finish line.
“Events like the Lynwood Run show how powerful we are when we come together as a community,” LPEF Executive Director Elsa Chagolla said. “We are especially grateful to the City of Lynwood for its tremendous support over the years in helping us grow this event and expand our impact.”
Since 2015, the Foundation has raised more than $1.25 million in support of Lynwood Unified students from pre-K through 12th grade. LPEF helps fund essential programs that enrich the student experience, from college access and STEM to wellness and the arts. This year, the foundation will award 103 scholarships totaling $102,000 to seniors from Lynwood, Firebaugh and Vista high schools during the Lynwood College Pledge Scholarship Reception on Thursday, June 12.
Events like the Lynwood Run reflect Lynwood Unified’s core value of Uplifting Community. By creating spaces where families come together in support of health, education and opportunity, the District continues to champion student success beyond the classroom. Through every mile run and every dollar raised, Lynwood Unified, LPEF and the City of Lynwood are investing in the future of LUSD students, helping them thrive academically, socially and personally.
