SHOUTOUTS FROM MR. TERRY!!!

We appreciate our parents who generously volunteer their time to support our school community! Whether you're passing out flyers or serving on a committee, your contributions are truly appreciated. If you’re interested in getting involved, please reach out to Ms. Olga Quirarte in the Counseling Office.  Thank you to our parents who were able to attend our workshop facilitated by Comienza Hoy on railing resilient, respectful and responsible children.  We are hoping to have another session with this group if the opportunity arises.

 

BLACK HISTORY MONTH

February is Black History Month, a time to honor the achievements, contributions, and resilience of Black Americans throughout history. At our school, we are committed to celebrating diversity and fostering meaningful discussions that highlight the impact of Black leaders, innovators, and changemakers.  As a school site some of the activities our staff and students have scheduled are a Spirit Week, Door Decorating Contest, Guest Speakers and more.

VIRTUAL 6TH GRADE PARENT MEETING

We will have our annual 6th Grade Parent Meeting for our incoming 7th graders for the 2025-26 school year.  This session will take place on Thursday, February 20th @ 5pm.  There will be an email sent out to parents with the login information in the near future.

 

VIRTUAL COFFEE WITH THE PRINCIPAL SESSION

On Friday, February 21st we will have our monthly Coffee with the Principal session at 9am.  We will have a presentation from Rainbow Services that will discuss Teen Dating Violence, as well as additional updates regarding our school site.  Be on the lookout for a notification with the login information.

 

INTRA-DISTRICT PERMIT INFORMATION

Students who currently attend our school automatically feed into Lynwood High School.  If you would like your student to attend Firebaugh High School, please click on the following link and complete the form by June 27, 2025.  REQUEST FORM

 

SPRING ACADEMIC INTERVENTION IS HERE!!!

8th GRADE PARENT MEETING

Our annual 8th Grade Parent meeting took place on Thursday, January 16th in the Old Cafeteria.  Those who were able to attend heard about 8th Grade Activities, upcoming dates, etc.   You also may access the presentation by scrolling down to the ATTACHED FILES on this page.

DRESS CODE

AFTER SCHOOL SAFETY

In order to support a safe school community for everyone, please make sure your student(s) goes directly home or to an agreed safe location after school.  We ask that your student(s) do not loiter in the park or any other areas in the city.

As we move forward throughout this current school year, there are several goals that we are focusing on meeting.  These numbers were based on our historical data from the past three years.  Please review the following:

UNIT #3 COMMON ASSESSMENT DATA

Our students recently took the Unit #2 Common Assessments for Algebra I and English Language Arts. In addition, you may view the Trimester #1 results for Math 7 and 8.  The percentages below represent students who met or exceeded the standard during the assessment. Here's how we did compared to last year:

  • Algebra I
    • 2023-24: 0%
    • 2024-25:  32%
  • English Language Arts
    • ELA 7: 2023-24 - 33% ; 2024-25 - 28%
    • ELA 8: 2023-24 - 23; 2024-25 - 30%
  • Mathematics 7 and 8 (Trimester #1)
    • Math 7: 2023-24 -22% ; 2024-25 - 30%
    • Math 8: 2023-24 - 16%; 2024-25 - 14%

As you can see, our students have shown improvement in performance compared to last year. This is a testament to the dedication and hard work of our parents, students and teacher teams. Nice job!!! 🙌

 

METRO BUS PASSES  

We received Metro Bus Passes for all students.  They were distributed during PE classes last semester.  If your student did not receive one, please reach out to Ms. Olga Quirarte in the Counseling Office.
