Enrollment: New & Returning Students

Below you’ll find information for both current LUSD students and new students enrolling at our school. Please read carefully and complete all steps prior to registration or orientation.

Enrollment for Current LUSD Students (Incoming 7th Graders)

If your child attended an LUSD elementary school and lives within Hosler Middle School boundaries, they will be automatically enrolled for 7th grade.

Before the school year begins or your student attends orientation, families must complete the Data Confirmation process in the Aeries Parent Portal.

District Enrollment Page with Intra- and Inter-District Forms

New Student Enrollment

If your student is new to Lynwood Unified or did not attend an LUSD elementary school, please register in person at the Attendance Office, open from 7:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

To enroll, you must bring the following:

Completed Enrollment Application and Registration Packet
Legal birth certificate
Custody paperwork/proof of guardianship (if applicable)
Immunization records
Previous school records (grades, attendance, discipline)
Two proofs of residency

Important: If you live outside Hosler’s boundaries or outside LUSD, you must first obtain an intra- or inter-district permit from the District Office before enrolling.

Please complete these before your registration appointment:

Enrollment Packet Letter (English/Spanish)
LUSD Student Enrollment Form (5 pages)
Student Emergency Card (with parent signature on back)
Three-Way Compact (English/Spanish)
Title I Parent Compact Form
Home Language Survey (English/Spanish)
Health Examination Report (English/Spanish)
Oral Health Assessment Letter AND form (English/Spanish)
Program Placement Options (English/Spanish)

During your appointment, a parent or guardian must complete Data Confirmation in the Aeries Parent Portal.

Intra-District Permit Procedures

STEP 1: Obtain intra-district permit from Student Services Dept. at the district office.

STEP 2: Parent must drop student from current school.

STEP 3: Bring intra-district permit to HMS Attendance Office.

STEP 4: Parent must complete all Aeries Data Confirmation and appropriate paperwork provided by Attendance Office staff.

STEP 5: Administration will assign student classes.

Once the classes are assigned, student will begin school.

Inter-District Permit Procedures

STEP 1: Obtain inter-district permit from resident’s current district.

STEP 2: Parent must present said permit to LUSD Student Services Department for a LUSD inter-district permit.

STEP 3: Bring inter-district permit to HMS Attendance Office.

STEP 4: Parent must complete all appropriate paperwork provided by Attendance Office staff, and complete Data Confirmation Section in the Aeries Parent Portal.
