California Cadet Corps
A Pathway to Leadership, Citizenship, and Personal Growth
The California Cadet Corps at Hosler and Cesar Chavez Middle Schools is more than just a program — it’s a leadership journey that empowers students to grow as individuals, teammates, and citizens. Built on a strong foundation of discipline, service, and applied learning, the Cadet Corps prepares students with the skills they need to lead with purpose and character.
What the Program Offers
As a school-based leadership development program conducted within a military-style framework, the Cadet Corps emphasizes six key objectives:
-
Develop Leadership Skills
-
Enhance Academic Achievement
-
Foster Good Citizenship
-
Promote Patriotism
-
Provide Basic Military Knowledge
-
Encourage Health, Wellness, and Fitness
Through hands-on experiences and structured training, cadets gain confidence and real-world skills by leading their peers, supporting their schools, and giving back to their communities.
Learning Through Action
Cadets participate in a variety of meaningful activities throughout the year, including:
-
Color Guard presentations
-
Marching in parades
-
Supporting charitable events
-
Serving as peer mentors and student leaders
-
Assisting with school functions and community activities
These experiences take place in the program’s “leadership laboratory,” where students learn leadership theory, apply what they’ve learned through practice, and grow through responsibility and service.
Why Cadet Corps?
The California Cadet Corps helps students build a strong foundation for future success—both academically and personally. Cadets are role models on campus, showing discipline, initiative, and teamwork. They gain a sense of purpose, pride, and community service that will guide them far beyond middle school.
